MADE IN SITU EXHIBITION AT MOBILIER NATIONAL

From 8th October to 29th November, we will unveil the Made in Situ exhibition at the Mobilier National in Paris, presenting the project in its entirety for the first time. Taking over the entire gallery at the Gobelins, the exhibition offers visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the successive multisensory universes of each of the project’s seven collections. The exhibition thus offers an experience of design not only as a form, but also as a sensitive narrative: a creative process nourished by exchange, observation and listening, to bring forth new forms that are rooted in both geography and the present era.
At a time when the term ‘hors-sol’ has been used to describe initiatives that are divorced from context, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance has chosen to anchor his practice in order to open it up. This decision has become a process : observing, listening, understanding, and then entering into collaboration by taking a step aside. This involves changing perspective to highlight the links between territory, materials and know-how, and immersing oneself in this ecosystem to offer an admiring and detached view of craftsmanship, its teachings, its strength and its fragility.
Through the exhibition, visitors are invited to experience something unique : understanding and experiencing, through gestures, materials, objects and stories, an alternative way of doing things. It shows how popular skills, far from belonging to the past, offer concrete solutions to major contemporary issues : sustainability and hospitality, the relationship with nature and the reconquest of a human-scale production.
